The Panthers acquired Sam Darnold yesterday trading a 6th round pick this year and a second and fourth round pick in 2022. Sam ends up in a perfect spot to turn his young career around. He’ll finally have good coaching, decent pass protection and plenty of playmakers. With the 8th pick in the draft the Panthers can add a OL or WR to further bolster their offense. With Brady and Matt Ryan figuring to have 1-2 more years and the Saints QB situation a question mark, the Panthers are well positioned if their Darnold gamble pays off to be the dominant team in the NFL South…..as for the Jets, they created a blueprint on how to ruin a young QB. Weak offensive line, bad coaching, no playmakers and the worst ownership group in football. The Jets figure to take Zach Wilson with the second pick, will he succeed? Given this is the Jets, you would have to bet against it but at least Adam Gase is not his coach.
So where does the draft stand now?
1.) Jaguars – Trevor Larwence
2.) Jets – Zach Wilson
3.) 49ers – Fields, Lance or Jones
4.) Falcons – The draft will start here. Will the Falcons trade out as they have indicated they are open to trading down? or do they stand pat an take
5.) Bengals – Bengals have their QB of the future, they could also be open to trading down or stay at 5 and take the best non QB on their board
